Today our Brownie Girl Scouts decided to make signs about saving water. Each girl will post 2 or more at a bathroom sink in her life at school, home, or church. We have invited some Daisies to make signs with them at our next meetings and post them also, which will share the message and increase the impact. The signs will carry forward to each person who sees them as long as they are there.

Brownie Girl Scout Wonders of Water Journey Take Action Project 2010

Below are the list of activities for World Thinking Day. We can do these as families or as troop. Our Troop is attending the World Thinking Day event NEXT Saturday, February 13. This is activity #8.

If you collect loose change to donate to the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund, you will also complete activity #1 that day.

Bring your loose change to donate at our
SU Thinking Day Event on Feb. 13

Everyone who attends Thinking day with us will only need one additional activity. We will do activity #18 in our Troop February 16 meeting. IF you are absent for either of these days, you can simply do any of the activities below at home and just tell me about it. Last year these patches were beautiful. I look forward to awarding them to your girls!

Also, I know money is tight these days, so if you want to choose the most important events, please join us for the Feb 5th Troop Camp-in and Feb 13 International Day event. The Polar Swim is the most fun event in January, but the Service Project is the has the most impact.

Troop 3763 is heading camping on Friday, February 5th. We are going on a trial overnite to see if the Daisies and Brownies are ready to go tent camping close to home or cabin camping further away from home. We are renting the Troop House from the nearby (less than 15miles away) Girl Scout Camp. It has gas heat and a full kitchen and bathroom. We will also have mattresses on the concrete floor, so you only need worry about a slumber bag not a winter sleeping bag. If you don’t have a sleeping bag or slumber bag, you may be able to borrow one or I can teach you how to make a bedroll from an old comforter and twin sheet and light blanket.

The troop has the place rented and reserved and we have 3 adults ready to take your girls. Now we need 7 to 12 girls to take the spaces. To reserve your spot please pay $30 each as soon as possible and no later than February 2nd. If I don’t have 7 girls by January 19th, I will invite some area Daisies to go with us.

Let me know too what indoor activity your daughter would like to do?

  • cooking
  • sewing
  • international games
  • art/crafts

I’m looking forward to this winter get away with the girls. Let me know also if your daughter wishes she could go but absolutely cannot be away from her mamma. I may be able to include mom as one of the safety-wise moms.

This is the first year that girls will be allowed to use email, social networking, texting, and other technology to sell Girl Scout Cookies. Explore internet safety and online product marketing while earning this pin.

Getting Connected is the theme for this year’s Girl Scout Cookie Activity Pin. It’s all about safe ways for girls to use tech savvy and connect with customers during the Girl Scout Cookie Experience.

Since the internet is everywhere except at the location of our Creekside Girl Scout meetings, see if you can get this completed during the School Holidays! Just read through the attached PDF and fill in the blanks and do the activities. Have an adult sign off that you’ve completed it and the troop will buy you the pin pictured above. If you don’t finish it, just bring it to the first January meeting to ask your questions or to do work that requires a group.

I love the Girl Scout Cookie Activity Pin because you can wear is on all levels of your Girl Scout Uniform! You can earn this pin as a Daisy and continue to wear it on your uniforms even as an Ambassador!!  For all the information on the Girl Scout Cookie Activity Pin 2009-2010 click here.

For a preview of the Cookies we’ll start selling in January visit Little Brownie Baker. They have many ideas for improving your sales. Just remember we cannot take ANY cookie orders until Friday 8 January 2010. There will be LOTS more information for parents and girls at our first meetings when we return from Christmas Break.

When I first talked to Advantage about doing our t-shirts they implied that they would be gaining approval for the t-shirt art work and said since we’re just using the word “Girl Scouts” it would be easy to acquire. Now the price went up and they want me to go through the long process of gaining council approval for the artwork.

I don’t want to do that this month with holidays, school, and family responsibilities. So I have a new and better idea. The reason this is a new and better idea is this shirt will match our cookie prizes the girls will earn in spring. The cookie theme will be rainbow tie-dye and green with pandas. The girls will love them!

We are going to get tie-dye shirts at wholesale and not write anything on them at this time. $6 each includes shipping will get these shirts for us. I need an order for a minimum of 24 shirts to get this price.

I have the following girls and adult t-shirt sizes for orders.

CHILD

  • S Sarah, Megan, Taylor, Angelina, Christiana, Lily, Lilly, Jessica
  • M Tara, Alison
  • L Emily, Lizzie, Rachel, Erin

ADULT

  • S Alexis
  • M
  • L Christina
  • XL Cami
  • XXL Monette
  • XXXL Jean, Jenna, Monette

We need at least three more. Would you like any other shirts from this site? I’m thinking of getting this one for my son. Does anyone else need an inexpensive shirt for a sibling or a gift?

Please just comment or email the color, shirt name and size. I’d like to place this order this Wednesday. Choose these shown or shop here. Please bring $6 per shirt for any additional orders on Tuesday. Those posted above are paid for already.
Thank you!
