Multi-age Girl Scout Troop in Paloma Creek

I have two girls who are five years apart, so our Girl Scout Troop is a multi-age troop. In 2009-2010, we want to have girls from K to 7th grade. We see this as an opportunity to meet and enjoy our neighbors in and around Paloma Creek.

Our troop enjoys:

  • earning badges and awards,
  • holding troop parties,
  • taking field trips,
  • selling Girl Scout Cookies,
  • having family picnics,
  • camping,
  • going on outdoor adventures, and
  • attending area Girl Scout events.

You are welcome to join us whether you can participate in all or in only a small portion of what we do! Some girl scouts only participate in the Girl Scout Council events, while others only come to Troop Meetings and never are available on Saturdays. Our Troop meetings are twice a month on Tuesdays from 4 to 530 PM. Our Troop events are on Friday evening or Saturdays, and Girl Scout Council events are usually on Saturday or Sunday afternoons.

We will all meet together for our opening and closing ceremonies and break into age levels for badge work and crafts. We use a blog website and email to keep in touch with parents regarding events and meetings. Most months, in addition to two troop meetings, each level will offer a Troop event and a Girl Scout event. Here are the age levels for Girl Scouts:

  • Daisies are K or 1st grade girls who want to have fun
  • Brownies are 2nd or 3rd grade girls who want to try new things and take action to make the world a better place
  • Juniors are 4th or 5th grade girls who want to learn new skills, develop leadership, and connect in Outdoor Adventure
  • Cadettes are 6th, 7th, or 8th grade girls who will discover potential careers, improve leadership skills, and connect in High Adventure activities

Older girls will be patrol leaders and assistant patrol leaders planning their own activities and taking turns to help direct the younger girl’s activities. We will do trips together and separately depending on the age level that can attend the event. We will also have our ceremonies together, so younger girls have built in role models and older girls can share how excited they are about their accomplishments. Our troop will have built in targets for earning leadership awards. Girl Scouts is the premiere leadership development organization for girls worldwide!

If you are interested in participating in Girl Scouts with your daughters, we will need adults as age level co-leader, treasurer, secretary, historian, camping leader, and field trip chaperones. We have girls from several different schools and homeschooling, and we are committed to everyone getting along without any cliquish or catty behavior.

I look forward to meeting you and your girls and serving you as we develop courage, character, and confidence  by connecting, discovering, and taking action to make the world a better place!

Let’s have fun together!

American Pet Spa and Resort

americanpetspa

During our cookie program the Daisy Girl Scouts of Troop 3763 wanted to do something to help the “puppies and kitties.”  A friend of a friend just opened this new business called American Pet Spa and Resort and our troop went to visit today.

They had several rescued exotic animals that we got to pet and visit. It was interesting to see the difference between an alpacca and a llama because they had both! They also have an african turtle who will live 300 years! It was fun and educational. We enjoyed our outing and look forward to more next year.
